Steve Gullick rose to prominence as a music photographer in the early 1990s and has shot for every major music publication; his iconic photographs of Nirvana et al are known throughout the world. Stevie Chick currently writes for the Guardian and Mojo, and has written biographies on Black Flag, Sonic Youth and more. The pair met in New York in 2000 on assignment for rival publications, and formed a lifelong bond. They then teamed up on assignments for the NME, and subsequently went on to become part of the team that created the influential alternative music press publication Careless Talk Cost Lives in 2001. CTCL was conceived to run for 12 issues and self-destructed on target two years later, at which point Chick and Gullick embarked on a casual three-year campaign publishing six issues of their subsequent project, Loose Lips Sink Ships.
